When Will Jesus Come Back? The Signs Say: SOON

For centuries, believers have watched and waited for Jesus to return. While no one knows the exact day or hour, the Bible tells us to look for the signs — and when we do, the answer becomes clear: His return is coming soon.

The Question Everyone Asks

For two thousand years, people have asked: “When will Jesus come back?”

Some have tried to calculate the exact date and have been proven wrong. Others have dismissed the idea entirely. But Jesus gave His followers a different approach. He told us that no one knows the exact day or hour of His return — not even the angels — but He urged us to watch for the signs.

When we compare the signs given in Scripture to what’s happening in our world today, one conclusion stands out: the time is near.

Biblical Foundations for the Signs

In Matthew 24, Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives and described the events that would take place before His return. He spoke of:

  • Wars and rumors of wars (Matthew 24:6)
  • Famines, earthquakes, and pestilences (Matthew 24:7)
  • Lawlessness increasing and love growing cold (Matthew 24:12)
  • The gospel being preached to all nations (Matthew 24:14)

He compared these events to birth pains—just as contractions grow closer and more intense before a birth, so too would these signs increase as the end approaches.

The Apostle Paul also warned that “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:2), catching the world off guard. But for believers who are alert and watching, it should not be a surprise.

Signs in Our World Today

When we look at the headlines, it’s hard to ignore how many of these signs are unfolding right now.

  • Wars and Conflicts: From global tensions to local unrest, conflict is escalating on many fronts. Nuclear threats, political instability, and territorial disputes dominate the news.
  • Natural Disasters: Earthquakes, famines, and extreme weather events are increasing in both frequency and severity, disrupting communities and economies worldwide.
  • Pestilences: A global pandemic recently brought the world to a standstill, showing how quickly life can change.
  • Moral Decline: Around the world, traditional values are being eroded. Lawlessness, division, and hatred seem to overshadow love and compassion.
  • Global Spread of the Gospel: Thanks to technology, the Bible is now accessible to almost every people group on earth. Online ministries, satellite broadcasts, and missionary work are fulfilling Jesus’ words that the gospel would be preached to all nations.

These aren’t isolated events. Taken together, they paint a picture that mirrors the warnings Jesus gave nearly 2,000 years ago.

Israel and Biblical Prophecy

One of the most powerful signs concerns the nation of Israel.

The Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, in chapter 37, described a time when God would regather His scattered people to their homeland. For centuries, this seemed impossible. But in 1948, Israel was reborn as a nation—a moment many consider a major fulfillment of prophecy.

Jesus spoke of the fig tree budding in Matthew 24:32–34, signaling that His return was near. Many scholars view the rebirth of Israel as a key prophetic marker, indicating that we are living in the generation that will witness the fulfillment of these end-time events.

A Generation on the Edge

Technology now makes possible the kind of global systems and communication described in the book of Revelation. Economic and political instability are creating conditions for major worldwide shifts. Jesus warned that these days would arrive suddenly—like a trap snapping shut.

Yet He also told His followers not to fear. Instead, we’re called to be alert, be ready, and live with expectancy.

The Answer: Soon

Bible Summary Book

So, when will Jesus return? We can’t circle a date on the calendar. But the signs are clear and growing louder every day.

Jesus said in Luke 21:28,

“When these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”

The signs are not meant to terrify us—they’re meant to remind us that God is in control and His promises are unfolding exactly as He said they would.

The return of Jesus isn’t a distant theory. It’s a coming reality.

Are You Ready?

The real question isn’t when Jesus will return, but whether we’re ready when He does.

The signs say: Soon.
