What Is The Tribulation?
OK, so maybe you are not familiar with the whole concept of the tribulation – no worries. Here it is in a nutshell…
Some Christians believe that the Bible teaches we are going to go through a period of turmoil near the ‘End Of Days’ – known as the Great Tribulation, or the time of Jacob’s trouble (Jeremiah 30:7)
This is period is referred to in Daniels 70th week ( Daniel 9:27) This coincides with the belief that the Church of true believers is going to be raptured – taken away to be with The Lord – around about the same time; or at least within the same timeframe. Strictly speaking however the rapture of the church can happen anytime before the Great Tribulation.
This is where the options come in..
A Pre-Tribulationist, believes that christians will be raptured before this period of turmoil.
A Mid-Tribulationist, believes that we will go through the first 3 1/2 years of turmoil, then be raptured.
A Post-tribulationist believes that we will go through the whole of the tribulation period, then be raptured or left to populate the Earth over the 1,000 year reign of Christ. This follows after the defeat of the anti-christ at the battle of Megiddo – known to us as the final battle of armageddon.
Of course as you may expect, there are many variations of this idea – but that’s ‘the skinny’ in a nutshell. Maybe I’ll do a proper post on the subject – might be interesting/controversial 🙂
